From its stunning 3:2 screen size and quality to the uninterrupted stylus performance to the long-lasting battery life, this laptop will surely give you more bang for your buck.

If you were to ask me about the best 2-in-1 laptop in the market that leaves you stunned with its outstanding performance, then the HP Spectre x360 14 will have to be my pick. Excited to learn more about this laptop? Then scroll down to the end of this review!

Design and Build

When it comes to its design, the HP Spectre line could beat even the most premium laptops on the market. Just like its predecessor model, the HP Spectre x360 14 is made of a sturdy CNC machined aluminium chassis.

The laptop is available in eye-pleasing colors such as – nightfall black, natural silver, and Poseidon blue. If that’s not catchy enough, the nightfall black colour gives you a sleek and sophisticated vibe and is curated especially for a confident boardroom presentation.

What truly makes the HP Spectre stand out from its competitors is its bold and lustrous black accents. These accents truly catch your eye as soon as you see the laptop without being too obnoxious. The rear corners of the laptop are diamond-shaped and one of them sports a Thunderbolt 4 port. On the sides of the laptop, you’ll see an audio jack, a microSD card slot, a USB-A, and an extra Thunderbolt 4 port. The laptop sports beveled edges which significantly contribute to its sleek look. If you’re someone who truly appreciates craftsmanship, then the HP Spectre x360 14 will surely bedazzle you. It weighs roughly 2.95 pounds and also boasts a 3:2 display. It is approximately 13% taller than its predecessor.

Keyboard and Trackpad

There’s not much difference in the keyboard of the latest HP Spectre x360 14 and its predecessor when it comes to the key travel distance and the tactile feedback. That said, it does offer a remarkable typing experience, all thanks to its rubber dome key switches and adequate key travel distance. You’ll quickly be able to pick up your pace with this laptop. My only disappointment with the keyboard is the positioning of certain keys like the home, page up/down, and end keys. These keys have been laid down at the right end of the keyboard and are quite odd. It might affect your typing speed and also your ability to play around with the right-shift keys and backspace.

Due to the odd positioning of the keys, there’s not a lot of vertical space available for the trackpad. That said, the company has added a sizable large trackpad to make full use of the available space. The trackpad is highly sensitive due to the Synaptics hardware and is responsive to gestures. It delivers pretty much all that you can expect from a trackpad.

Screen and Speakers

The HP Spectre x360 14 offers a pleasing 3:2 aspect display and is much better than the 16:9 aspect display offered by its predecessor. Add to the mix some skinny four-sided bezels along with a 13.5- inch screen size and you’ve got yourself an incredibly unique laptop display! Currently, there are three display options available with this laptop – full HD+ (1920 x 1280 pixels), full HD+ with HP Sure View Privacy Screen, and a third version with OLED display and 3000 x 2000 screen resolution. The third option is the priciest out of all three and also supports a responsive touch. Apart from this, the high-end option also offers a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and an intense coloured display.

All the three display models offered by HP come with an anti-reflective light layer and an auto-brightness sensor to adjust to your surrounding lighting. It features an average colour accuracy of 98% and a peak brightness of 400 nits. The laptop also features four speakers – two at the bottom for tablet modes and two at the top for laptop usage.  It sports mind-blowing pre-amped Bang and Olufsen speakers.

Performance

The HP Spectre x360 14 is powered by the Intel 11th Gen Core i7-1165G7 processor and the Intel Iris Xe graphics. The laptop doesn’t offer a revolutionary performance but holds well against the other ultrabooks in the market. However, the thermal performance of the laptop is outstanding with an efficient fan and cooling system and also a powerful software. The command center app offered by HP features a “smart sense” setting that enables the PC to intuitively adapt its thermal performance based on the battery status, laptop usage, and the app. The battery life of the laptop is also good and you’ll be able to churn approximately 7 hours of real-life battery usage.
