What we know about the iPhone 14

Today we get the exciting news about the all-new Apple products. We expect to see the iPhone 14 range, Apple Watch 8, Apple Watch Pro, Apple Watch SE 2, and Apple AirPods Pro 2. This could be one of the biggest in recent years, with lots of new products unveiled.

The iPhone 14 is expected to bring in a series of design changes, partly phasing out the divisive “notch” that has been a feature of iPhone models since 2017. Here are the features and specs we expect:

Look:

The base iPhone 14 model looks very likely to match the iPhone 13, but the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get a punch-hole camera instead of a notch. It’s looking almost certain that the iPhone 14 mini has been replaced in the line-up by the iPhone 14 Plus.

Specs:

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are set for 6.1-inch (or 6.06-inch) 1170 x 2532 OLED screens, while the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have 6.7-inch (or 6.68-inch) 1284 x 2778 OLED screens. Expect a cut-out instead of a notch, plus 120Hz refresh rates on the Pro models and a 60Hz refresh rate (as well as a similar Notch to the iPhone 13) on the others.

Software:

Always-on display functionality has also been mentioned, based on the iOS 16 beta. It’s unclear if this addition will serve as a Pro model exclusive feature.
The iPhone 14 (and 14 Plus) looks set to sport the A15 chipset again this year, but could have it rebadged to the A16 with a very mild upgrade. All phones will have 6GB of RAM, according to the rumours, but the Pro range will have faster and more advanced memory.

The iPhone is typically made available for pre-order on Friday and then goes on sale the week after. This means the new iPhone should be hitting shelves on Friday, September 16.

There are claims that the new iPhone 14 will be slightly cheaper than the iPhone 13. If the UK price follows past patterns we could expect the device either at £779 or slightly below.
