With Christmas fast-approaching, we’ve put together a guide on the best phones you can get at different price points. So whether you’re buying someone a gift or asking for a phone for Christmas, here are the best low, mid and high-end smartphones on the market.
Nokia 7.1 – £299
With a large 5.8inch LCD display, clean design and a dual-lens rear camera and you’re getting a lot for your money with Nokia’s latest flagship phone.
Samsung Galaxy A6 – £259
This phone’s best features include its vibrant OLED screen, 16MP front and rear cameras. The A6 is an affordable introduction into the Samsung Galaxy family and is a solid performer.
Huawei P Smart – £149
Another, even more affordable option with a 5.65-inch LCD display, is the Huawei P Smart. With this phone you’ll get good battery-life and overall performance, and a decent dual-camera with depth of field.
Moto G6 – £179
Widely regarded as one of the best budget smartphones in the market, the Moto G6 packs a punch considering its low price-tag. It comes with a decent 3000-mAh battery capacity, a dual rear camera setup and fingerprint scanning.
OnePlus 6T – £499
Being the latest release from OnePlus, this device is a fantastic upgrade from the OnePlus 6. It has 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a luxe glass design and a very large 6.41-inch AMOLED screen.
Google Pixel 2 – £629
If you’re looking for a smartphone that takes great photos, without breaking the bank, then the Pixel 2 could be for you. It’s also great for video, both capturing and viewing, and has front-facing dual stereo speakers.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro – £499
Much like the OnePlus 6T, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has 128GB storage and a similar size display. However, it also boasts a 12MP dual rear camera, 8GB of RAM, in-screen fingerprint scanning and has an interesting partially transparent design.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – £869
Regarded as one of the biggest and best Android phones to-date, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus excels in numerous areas. If you want a smartphone with a large 6.2-inch screen, a camera that’s brilliant in low-light and sleek, curved design, this one’s for you.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 – £799
The most expensive, but most impressive and powerful device in the Samsung Galaxy Note series, the Note 9 delivers in many ways. If you’re for fantastic battery capacity (4,000 mAh), 512GB storage (with the option of 1TB using a microSD card), a massive 6.4-inch infinity display and a brilliant, this one ticks the majority of boxes.
Huawei P20 Pro – £799
Huawei has entered the high-end, top spec game, and the Huawei P20 Pro is a remarkable contender. While the price tag seems steep, the whopping 4,000 mAh battery, triple rear camera setup, a 24MP front-facing camera and generally sound performance, truly pack a punch.
Google Pixel 3 XL – £869
A further step up from the Pixel 2 series, the Pixel 3 XL is a powerhouse, particularly when it comes to the camera. Treat yourself to this one, if you’re after the best camera on a 2018 smartphone, along with a nice large OLED display and solid battery performance.
iPhone XR – £749
As the more affordable (and colourful) of the three iPhones released in 2018, the iPhone XR contains the ever-powerful A12 Bionic chipset, edge-to-edge display and brilliant battery life, at a much lower price tag.
